Crystal, on the left, is a former student of mine from my student ministry time in AUG. We still keep in touch as you can see.
The antler ears and Whoville-esque santa hat were more of a hit than any of the bouquets... except for this gift. The sweet woman who got this was almost in tears when we brought it in. She was all alone in her room and in quite a bit of pain. She had C read her the note that came with the tree and was so thankful. I wanted to just sit down with her to keep her company and pray with her. It's not part of the job and we were on the clock so we said a few extra "Merry Christmas"es, prayed in our heads and made the rest of our deliveries.
We also delivered a balloon bouquet to someone in the burn unit.
Surprisingly, other than the Christmas tree recipient, no one was excited to receive their floral gifts. It ruined my idea that delivering flowers was a romantic adventure full of surprises and delight. Thankfully, C and I had a blast spending time together, catching up, and wishing a Merry Christmas to all we saw!
