2.42 Prayer

Below is a blog from our student pastor, Jason Gaston, about 2.42 prayer at the Brier Creek campus this week. I'm working on a slide show of the pictures I took of each of the prayers that the students wrote on the sheet at Station 4. Such an encouragement.

2.42:: Devoting ourselves to Prayer

Last night at 2.42 we had our “Prayer Night.” After being challenged by some good friends of mine about how we are setting up our students to pray, we decided to set up “prayer stations.” These prayer stations were not set up in any “order” and students had the liberty to go to any of the stations at any time as many times as they wanted to. It went a little something like this;

  • Station 1: Praying through the promises of God in Scripture// Here we gave students a list of roughly 25-30 passages of Scripture that talk about God’s promises for our life, and had them pray in response to God’s Word.
  • Station 2: Praying for our lost friends // Here students lit a candle and prayed for their friends that don’t know Christ. Each candle represented the person they were praying for.
  • Station 3: Praying for the Nations// Here students had the opportunity to pray specifically for a region in the world where we have teams living and working on the field.
  • Station 4: Praying for our Student Ministry// At this station students wrote on a sheet specific prayers for our student ministry.
  • Station 5: Being Prayed For// At this station we had our leaders hanging out and praying specifically for each student as they came through.
  • Station 6: The Inner Sanctuary// We set up a “room” inside a room where students could go, be alone with God, read through the Scripture and just spend some quality 1 on 1 time with Christ.

God did some amazing things last night here. You can see a very brief video clip of what we did. It does not cover all the stations, but just shows the beauty of what took place. Hope you enjoy!
